With a background in language teaching to adults, I have long been interested in helping people to overcome the challenges that prevent them from having fulfilling lives.
My life path has not been a typical one (if there is such a thing). I have lived in different countries and worked in a variety of roles. Before I became interested in psychology and the helping professions, I was a freelance language teacher, teaching English and Spanish to adults for more than 10 years. I have travelled widely and during those years, I went through many life challenging experiences that eventually led me to the realisation that my life path had been preparing me to help others who are going through similar challenges.
I started my journey into the helping professions training and eventually qualifying as a Transformational Life Coach, NLP Practitioner and Clinical Hypnotherapist before I decided to further my training as an Integrative Counsellor. Through personal experiences, I have developed a deep understanding of experiences of bullying, victimisation, abuse in personal relationships, lack of self-esteem and issues with body image. Living in different countries has also provided me with the experience of living in and adjusting to a different culture and, helped me to understand issues associated with loneliness, isolation, discrimination, and cultural estrangement.
In my practice, I draw on a wide range of helping modalities to facilitate change in my clients, offering a safe space to explore the issues that bring them to therapy. I bring the wisdom of different schools of thought to the sessions, acknowledging that each client is different and that, what works for one person does not necessarily work for another. I believe that the “magic” of transformation is found in the safe space created in the relationship with my clients.
I deeply believe that clients have all the resources they need to bring about clarity and healing. I consider myself a catalyst for change and compare my role as a therapist to that of a midwife, helping my clients to restore the connection to their inner thoughts and emotions, so that they can give birth to a more authentic life.
I am deeply committed to your flourishing. By giving you the support and encouragement that you may be lacking in a particular area of your life, I aim to provide you with the tools that will help you to develop a more resilient, self-confident and powerful self. Together, we can build the foundations for you to feel empowered to make your own choices and to create new opportunities that enable you to thrive.
My approach to helping is solidly built on the foundation of a deep understanding of the human condition and the need for each one of us to get involved, with a greater commitment, to the flourishing of life on Earth.
My mission is to contribute to a more enlightened world by helping people overcome their personal challenges and limitations so that they can fulfill their purpose and make a meaningful contribution to society and humanity at large.
